andalucia

Back in my spiritual heartland of Cadiz. Our village feels very different out of season, lazy and austere, very spartan but beautiful, many things closed, quiet and sombre, so rather like it was when I first chanced upon it 30 years ago. Cycled up some hills today which makes you feel part of the terrain, then drank too much sherry, which never tastes correct anywhere else but here is like a shot of the earth. Loving this elemental, elegant land but missing my chaotic, creative city and anxious to see my football team get their first win at the Emirates.

Looks stunning! Foggy and rainy here! Make the most of it!

Well, I hope Conil is brighter than Cadiz city at the moment, Robert. Cowering between deluges in the old city. Agree about the Sherry. Can’t abide the stuff back in Blighty, but it has the authentic tang of the atmosphere here.
